31 January Do I care or am I happy no matter what?!?Well, having grown up in Pittsburgh, I have a natural affinity for the Steelers. However, having lived in the Seattle area for the last five years, I've grown to like the Seahaks too! That puts me in one of two positions...
1. The terrible position of not knowing who to cheer for
or
2. The enviable position of being pleased no matter WHO wins!
As I'm not much of a season-long fan of football (in fact, I knew that both teams were doing good, but didn't realize just HOW good until about three weeks ago!) I tend to lean towards option number 2. I really don't care who will win!
I realize that only one team will walk away with the ring, but...whether I celebrate the "Bus" retiring with a ring on his finger or coach Holmgren's first ever win, the point is that I can still celebrate! Mostly I would like to see a good, entertaining game with no injuries and a score of great, new commercials!
Yes, I admit it. I mostly watch the game for the commercials... :-)
Stay tuned - more to come... 26 January We knew she was smart...Well, we all knew that Rebecca would do good (Jenny too!) and she has proven it yet again. Rebecca has been formally accepted to Washington State University's "Honors College"! She applied and was accepted immediately.
This gives her some options in taking advanced courses and perhaps even getting her degrees a little faster than normal. Considering she is looking at a minimum of EIGHT YEARS of college, even shaving a few months would be welcome, I'm sure. I know my wallet would surely appreciate it!
Jenny is doing great - she has decided that she has had enough clarinet for a while and that she is going to start playing guitar. I'm going to start, too - but I'm sure I'll learn a lot slower than she does... That's okay - I'll pay for her to get lessons and she can teach me!
Well, enough for now - its been a while so I thought I would jot down something.
Stay tuned - more to come... 12 January Rain, Rain and RAIN!25 consecutive days of rain - a few more and I'm gonna start building an ark!
What a drag. I haven't been able to ride the bike to of from work for the last three weeks, between being sick and the rain, I've thought it best to take the Jeep. Unfortunately, that also increases my commute costs by about double... Today I took the bike.
The drive to work was great - very light traffic, no rain, dry roads (for the most part) and nice, cool weather. The ride home will be a bit different. There is another storm blowing in from the south west - lots of rain and a bit of wind. Shouldn't be TOO bad, though. Right now there are some localized heavy storms (showing as RED on the doppler radar) but they should have passed by the time I leave the office.
I'm feeling better (I guess the antibiotics are helping) but this thing is trying to get into my chest again. Hopefully this is its last attempt and I am finally over this thing. Working from home on Fridays has been a great help - both physically (I can sleep in a little bit - until 6:30 or so instead of 5:15) and with the commute. In the Jeep the commute takes roughly two hours - each way... Yech. I made it in just about an hour this morning!
Stay tuned - more to come... 09 January Sinus Infection... :-(Yuck - sick again. I went to the doctor today as I'd finally had enough of being sick. I've been fighting this thing for at least the last eight weeks and it turns out that it is a sinus infection. Pretty nasty, too for the sound of the doc. Seems the other symptoms have all been related (earaches, sore throat, bad headaches, etc) since all of you plumbing is connected in your head.
The doctor that I went to I really like, but his nurse had the personality of a warm, wet, dishrag. When the doc was giving me the diagnosis, he told me "It's all in your head" with a grin and a wink. I wonder if he could teach that attitude to the nurse?
Anyway - I missed work again today (well, I didn't actually MISS it, but I wasn't there!)
I'll be back on the commute tomorrow...rain and all
Stay tuned - more to come... 03 January Starting off the New Year...Well, this year started off on mixed footing. On New Year's Day I preached at the Tabernacle. The message appeared very annointed and well received. The service was great and it was nice to have Pastor Lance Powers of our new church - Abundant Life Four Square - attend!
Following the service, things were fine. I was a little tired, as is usual, but as the evening wore on, I felt worse and worse. I went to bed early and spent a restless night. By morning (Monday) I felt pretty rough. I spent the day eating Chicken Soup and staying in bed.
I called in sick on Tuesday and spent the day again resting and trying to get back on my feet. I feel a bit better today and hope to make it back to the office on Wednesday... As far as I can tell, it was some sort of "bug" that I caught. Hopefully it is passed.
I pray that this entry finds all of you in good health with an excitement about what God will be doing in your lives in the coming year.
Stay tuned - more to come...
